A*STAR Launches New Institute of Advanced Intelligence and Computing

A*STAR unveiled the Institute of Advanced Intelligence and Computing on July 1, marking one of the most significant structural moves in Singapore's public research landscape this year. The new institute brings together A*STAR's previously distributed expertise in artificial intelligence, data and digital technologies, modelling and simulation, quantum technologies, and high-performance computing into a single unified organisation, signalling a deliberate push to break down silos between computational disciplines.

The consolidation reflects a recognition that the next wave of AI breakthroughs will come from cross-cutting capabilities rather than narrow specialisation. By co-locating quantum computing researchers alongside AI model developers and high-performance computing engineers, A*STAR aims to accelerate the translation of foundational research into deployable technologies.
